  1. April 2017 Newsletter
The access code to the gate, fuel store and Clubhouse will be changed on the Opening Saturday 22nd April… The new code will be sent out to you after receiving your 2017 subscriptions. You will also be sent a 2017 boat sticker for your boat to allow us to identify members, please make sure your boat has one. We intend to collect non identified boats to a part of the Dinghy Park and dispose of any that seem abandoned or unclaimed. A skip has been ordered! Those boats will be marked with a notice and pictures posted on the Club Facebook page, so if you find a notice please get in touch urgently.

Subscriptions were fixed at the AGM and once again, there is no change from last year.
Fees: Adult £40. Family £60. Junior £15 (remains same) Life member (over 60 yrs) £100

We have an a fantastic range of club boats to choose from. 2xWayfarers, 1xEnterprise, 1x420, 2x Lasers, 3xToppers and 3xOppis. All available at any time to club members. So even non boat owners can become members and let our club grow.

Membership forms are available from info@lochmorlichsailingclub.org.uk e-mail is easiest but there will be paper copies at the club or phone for a posted one.
Please also note, Diana O’Reilly dianor@aol.com is our new Membership Secretary so please return your forms along with your cheque and an SAE (for the Boat ID sticker if you have a boat) to the address at the bottom of the form. Or come along to the opening day, help prepare for the season and pay your dues then!
    EVENING SAILING…
I plan to organise safety boat cover for sailing on Thursday evenings from 6pm,during school term time, starting 27th April onwards. If you want to get involved please just turn up initially and we shall get things more structured later. If it becomes popular as it once was, we can arrange a rota of safety boat drivers, and perhaps instructors. It could develop into coaching in both powerboat and sailing and informal racing. I think these sessions will be suitable for all abilities and ages. I look forward to seeing folk on the water.

Loch Morlich Sailing Club RYA Recognised Centre. We have been a recognized Centre for several years, able to provide certification for sailing, powerboat and safety boat. It has fallen on myself to keep this side of things going and I hope some RYA instructors might want to help me out. Please get in touch if you are qualified and want to get involved. ian.ross6@icloud.com

  2. Dates for 2017.
Opening of Clubhouse: Saturday 22nd April from 10:30am. (Bring your warm clothing and a toolbox)
Frozen North Challenge: Sunday 23rd April (All welcome, bring along friends)
SSS Sunday Social Sails (2nd Sunday of each month): 14th May; 11th June; 9th July; 10th Sept.; 8th Oct. (last sail).
Open Day: Saturday 17th June. (Let us know if you can help out)
    Annual Open Regatta: 12/13 August.
Closing up of Clubhouse, AGM & Dinner: Saturday 4th November.
The SSS days are very informal and sailors of all standards are welcome. Please don’t be intimidated by the word race if anyone is bold enough to suggest one! Experienced club members will be there to either crew the safety boat, coach or join in. Less experienced folk could well find space in a bigger boat as crew.
The LMSC Open Regatta, is our big event of the year... usually about a dozen to 20 boats and there is an entry fee, but there is food and craik .... 3 races each day, boats potentially from all over. We have had over 60 entries but that is unlikely!

We need to keep a record of qualifications. Could those members who are qualified powerboat/safety boat drivers, sailing instructors, or first aiders please bring copies of their certificates to the Club or send to Ian, for our records. Thanks

The Club log book has proven to be popular and useful. Could any boat or Club defects be noted in that book as well please? If you can’t fix it yourself of course!
